The EC also asked our country to ensure a fair transition in regions relying on coal and lignite. The transition should be accompanied by a clear strategy to promote renewable energy.
The Commission insists that measures be taken to reform the energy market, encourage investments in renovation of buildings focusing, as a priority, on those in the worst condition.
The European Commission also recommends that Bulgaria take measures to improve sustainable transport infrastructure and increase sustainable mobility.
The recommendations are enshrined in the individual assessments of the Member States and are part of the State of the Energy Union 2020 report, announced today.
