Seven Candidates for Struma Supervision
Only seven companies will compete for the supervision of the construction of Lot 4 of Struma (Sandanski-Kresna). To perform the same activity for Lot 1 (Dolna Dikanya - Dupnitsa) a total of 12 companies submitted bids, and two of them were admitted to the competition.
Among the candidates now there are familiar names again. The organisation National Transport Axes (which includes Trafikkonsult Ltd., Varna and Aksakovo-based firm Rubicon Engineering) as well as the Sofia-based Patinvestengineering AD and Patkonsult 2000 Ltd., are again competeing after submitting bids for the supervision of Lot 1. The other ones are Kresna, Infrastructure Struma, Rafailov TriES Engineering PVD and Art Design - Manfred Vallaster.
The section from Sandanski Kresna will have a length of 15 km and will cost about EUR53 million. For its construction 15 companies compete, including well-known groups such as Trace Group, Glavbolgarstroy in association with Italian Impreza and Patstroy 92, but also Patnostroitelna Technika with Spanish Axion. The contractor should be selected by the end of October, with construction planned to begin in November and the end of 2013 being the end date for the section to be completed. Government promises by then to have Lot 1 ready, too. By the end of the year they will announce tenders for building sections from Dupnitsa to Blagoevgrad (Lot 2).
As is known, upon request from the European Commission, the building of Struma highway is divided into two, and the stretch from Blagoevgrad to Sandanski through the Kresna Gorge there will be a separate project.
