AMERICANS TO MANAGE ONE MORE BULGARIAN RADIO
Radio Sport has signed a contract for management with Metroradio EOOD, a subsidiary to the US company Metromedia, the BANKER weekly learned. The news will be officially broken next week. The firm already holds three radio stations on this country's territory - BG Radio, Nova, and Radio One. Insiders of Metroradio and radio Sport confirmed the signing of the contract but refused to provide information regarding the deal's parameters and if the radio station's profile would be changed or would remain the same. Radio Sport was licensed as a round-the-clock commercial profiled operator in January 2001. Its first owner was the sports journalist Radoslav Yankoulov through the company R 22 EOOD . About a year later he sold the station to Dax Media, a firm held by Manol Velev, a well-known businessman and husband of MP Vessela Lecheva. The radio has a licence for broadcasting on the territory of Sofia, Stara Zagora, Bourgas, Plovdiv and Varna, till the year 2013. Gena Raicheva is its present manager. The Council for Electronic Media has no information about a change in the equity capital of Sport radio, its Licences and Registrations department specified. According to lawyers, if the deal does not contain transference of shares, but just a contract for management, it needs no approval from the media supervising authorities.
