VALENTIN ZLATEV TO REPRESENT LUKOIL'S PRESIDENT IN THE BALKANS
The Director General of LUKoil Bulgaria Valentin Zlatev will already combine his managerial functions in the Bourgas-based oil refinery with the position of a representative for Albania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Motenegro and Croatia, of the Russian oil company's President Vagit Alkeperov, the press centre of LUKoil Bulgaria announced. According to the decision, made by the Bulgarian oil company, Mr. Zlatev will be representing LUKoil in all spheres of the social, political and economic life in these Balkan countries.The Balkan region, which is perspective and attractive to investors, is of a special importance to the company, managed by the Russian oligarch, the press centre's announcement claims. Therefore, in the last few years LUKoil launched an overall, large-scale investment programme in the region, coordinated with the local management bodies in the individual countries. The main target of the Russian oil company is to expand its presence on the Balkan markets by increasing the retail of fuels. LUKoil's investments in the countries of the region reached USD192MN in 2002, three-fold up from 2001.
