SPANISH PREMIER ASNAR VISITED BULGARIA
During his short stay in Sofia in the beginning of this week the Spanish PM Jose Maria Asnar appealed for a broad international freedom coalition to repulse the terrorists and those who finance and support them. The terrorist attacks in the US are directed against the primary values of the democratic society and target their undermining, the Spanish Premier said.Mr. Asnar stayed in Bulgaria within a short visit to the European Union (EU) candidate countries in relation with the upcoming Spanish presidency of the EU as of January 1, 2002. It will be Madrid's third 6-month mandate after the country was accepted as a full-fledged member of the EU in 1987. Jose Maria Asnar assured his Bulgarian counterpart Premier Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha that during its presidency Spain will apply a differentiated approach for admitting EU members.Spain's positive experiance in the pre-accession period and the achieved economic progress after the country joined the EU can be an example for Bulgaria, PM Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha commented.
