SIXTY TURKISH COMPANIES EXHIBIT AT BALKANEXPO
Sixty firms participated in the ninth exhibition of Turkish producers Balkanexpo, held in the National Palace of Culture (NDK) June 5 to 8. The forum was organized by the company Forem and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry BCCI). Turkish businessmen regard Bulgaria as a future EU-member, and hence as an opportunity to set foot onto the European market one day, Bulent Yaldarum, Executive Director of Ramstore-Bulgaria, explained the great interest towards the exhibition. The trade chain Ramstore which is within Koch Holding Group opened its hypermarket in Sofia a year ago and is pointed to as the biggest Turkish investor in Bulgaria after Ushuklar Holding withrew. Turkish investments in Bulgaria have so far totaled some USD300MN and are expected to go up to USD500MN by 2005, Turkey's Trade Representative in Bulgaria Ender Yundju, said. He hopes that within the same period annual bilateral commercial exchange will reach USD1BN. Trade turnover between Bulgaria and Turkey amounted to USD700MN in 2001 and is pre-estimated at USD750MN at end-2002.
