PATENT OFFICE CELEBRATES ITS 55TH ANNIVERSARY
The Patent Office marked its 55th anniversary by a conference titled Bulgaria and the System for Industrial Property - Development and Prospects and an exhibition called Innovations - an Instrument for Development and Growth of Business. The events took place at the Boyana Residence on June 11 and 12. During the celebrations the names of persons, entered in 2003 in the Golden Book of Discoverers and Inventors (created in 1981) became known as well. They are: Prof. Dr. Vangeliya Azmanova and Dr. Denyo Azmanov, Hristo Dichev, Dipl. Eng. Dobromir Alexandrov, senior research worker Dr. Angel Galabov, and senior research worker Dr. Anton Nakov. The Patent Office was established on June 4, 1948 by Decree No907 of the Presidium of the National Assembly. It was initially called Institute for Innovations. Last year 1,154 applications for inventions, 519 applications for registration of industrial design, and 4,919 applications for registration of trade marks, were filed at the Patent Office.
