OVER 100 COMPANIES TO TAKE PART IN BAIT EXPO 2004
A huge number of companies - over one hundred, will take part in the BAIT EXPO 2004 exhibition, Vassil Vassilev, Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies (BAIT), said. The companies will be divided in three groups - hardware, own software developments, and telecommunications, networks and INTERNET. The exhibition will occupy 3,200 square metres in the Sofia Inter Expo Centre. The President Georgi Parvanov is going to attend the opening ceremony.The BAIT EXPO 2004 agenda includes meetings with representatives of the Government, the Parliament, and the European Commission. IT companies will present their ideas for legislative amendments there. About 90,000 - 100,000 computers are sold in Bulgaria every year, of which nearly 40% are illegal, i.e. imported without the necessary documents and certificates, Vassil Vassilev reminded. One of the purposes of this year's exhibition is to unite the participants against the illegal distributors of IT equipment and software, the association explained.
