OTE WON THE SECOND BULGARIAN GSM OPERATOR TENDER
The Greek OTE won the tender for the second GSM operator in Bulgaria offering USD135MN.
George Scarpelis, OTE Deputy Executive Director, said at a press-conference that the company intends to invest USD200 - 300MN for the establishment and putting into operation of the second Bulgarian GSM.
According to preliminary plans, within 6 months after obtaining the licence, OTE network will cover 20% of Bulgarian territory, especially Sofia, PLovdiv and Varna regions. Within the next two years the new network has to cover the whole country.
The Greek company has entered into negotiations with Motorola and Nokia for the new GSM network equipment.
