NIKOLAI POPOV IS THE NEW HEAD OF CHIEF TAXATION ADMINISTRATION
Nikolai Popov is the new Director of the Chief Taxation Adminsitration (CTA). He was appointed to the post by an order of Finance Minister Milen Velchev, dated January 31, 2002. A contest by documents was invited for the position on November 30, 2001, i.e. immediately after the post was vacated by Anton Tonchev. Nikolai Isaev Popov was born on August 25, 1965 in Sofia. He graduated in Finances and Credit from the Karl Marx Higher Institute of Economics (now University of National and World Economy), and afterwards specialized in Audits of Holdings and Concerns at the Federal Academy of the German Finance Ministry and in Auditing Techniques-Juristic Persons under the American IRS programme in Sofia.Mr. Popov began his professional career in 1991 at the Sofia Taxation Administration as an expert at the State Receivables Department. Climbing the hierarchy ladder he became a tax inspector and a chief tax inspector later on. From 1995 till 1999 he worked at the Chief Taxation Administration within the Finance Ministry's structure as a tax inspector at the Organization and Methodology of Tax Control Department, head of the Collection of State Receivables Sector, and head of Big Taxpayers Department.From 1999 till his recent appointment to the post of Director of the CTA, he headed the Sales and Collection of Receivables Department in Bulgargas.
