NEW STABILITY PACT COORDINATOR AWARDED 1ST CLASS STARA PLANINA MEDAL
Erhard Busek, the new Stability Pact Special Coordinator for South-Eastern Europe, was awarded the first class Stara Planina honorary medal by President Stoyanov on January 15. Mr. Busek was conferred the medal for his merits in the framework of the Southeast European Cooperative Initiative, of which he has been coordinator for the last five years. Bulgaria is the first country that Busek visits after his recent appointment. Mr. Busec met President-elect Georgi Parvanov and Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. The Stability Pact Coordinator assured Mr. Parvanov that he supports the construction of a second bridge over the Danube and hopes that the construction will begin soon. Mr. Busec told Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg that Bulgaria should continue to promote regional cooperation and should become a stability center in the Balkans.
