MINISTER TSEROVSKY PRESENTS HIS TEAM
At his first press conference on January 13 the recently-appointed Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Valentin Tserovsky presented the new deputy ministers Savin Kovachev, Petya Gegova and Roumen Mitov. Only Hassan Hassan retained his post from the former minister Kostadin Paskalev's team. His colleague Ivan Saev was discharged, and Georgi Georgiev handed in his resignation on January 7.The Gorna Arda project should be pushed forward from the deadlock and be separated from the Maritsa highway sub-project, Mr. Tserovsky explained.A new date for signing a memorandum between Bulgaria, Greece, and Russia, on the construction on the Bourgas-Alexandroupolis oil conduit is expected to be fixed within two weeks, Deputy Minister Hassan Hassan added. The companies, which have announced their willingness to take part in the project, should reach an agreement regarding their share participation by January 15. If they fail to do that, an expert group of deputy ministers, appointed by the Premier Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, will set the rules for distributing the shares. In the last moment Russia postponed the signing of the agreement, which had been scheduled for December 3, 2002 in Athens.
