CROPS TO BE GUARGED BY UNEMPLOYED
Almost 5,000 unemployed, mainly in the rural municipalities, will be hired for protection of farm crops from theft and for prevention of fires and illegal lumbering. This is envisaged in the 2002 Crop Protection Seasonal Employment Programme, drafted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Interior Ministry and the Employment Agency. The programme, which starts this month, is financed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies. The idea is to cover all municipalities which produce agricultural products.Interior Ministry officials will undertake the recruitment of the unemployed, their preparation and organization of efficient groups, that will be fighting thieves and the elements. The groups will be sent to the most problematic regions, specified by the Agriculture Ministry. By this programme we tried to answer the criticisms that our employment programmes were always orientated to big municipal centres and money was never enough for the villages, the Vice Premier and Minister of Labour and Social Policies Lidiya Shouleva pointed out.
