The already traditional summer school for students in finance of the Atanas Burov foundation opened doors on Monday (July 5). Classes will continue till July 16 in the Training Centre of the Finance Ministry in the town of Bankya. The classes are attended free of charge by 35 students from the University for National and World Economy, the Sofia St. Kliment Ohridsky University, New Bulgarian University, The Academy of Economics in Svishtov, the Varna University of Economics, and the American University of Blagoevgrad, picked by a tender. The lectures this year are dedicated to modern banking. The best practices in retail banking, crediting of small and medium-sized enterprises and risk management will be the focus of lectures, delivered by seven executive directors of banks, the Chairman of the Financial Supervision Commission, and the Fund for Guaranteeing Bank Deposits. The Head of the Management Board of the Association of Commercial Banks (ACB) Dimiter Kostov opened the classes by a lecture on the Bulgarian bank sector during the process of the country's accession to the European Union (EU). The school is intended to prepare the students for their future work in the bank system after their graduation. They will have to work out a number of practical tasks. The programme includes lectures and solving of cases, connected with the most recent novelties in the banking practice - e-banking, project banking, etc. Seminars on investment banking will be held within the framework of the summer school. On July 16 the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Ivan Iskrov will hand the students certificates for successfully passed course of training.
