BULGARIAN COMPANIES TO COMPETE WITH IT GIANTS
Fourteen Bulgarian companies will take part in the biggest international exhibition of information technologies, CeBIT, which will be held from 18 to 24 March in Hanover. Seven of the companies, Optim-Al, Contrax, Interconsult, Nemechek, Index-Bulgaria, Decart-Information Technologies, and EES Telecom Consortium, will present their products on the Bulgarian national stand due to the financial support of the Bulgarian Information Technologies Association and the Agency for Development of Information and Communication Technologies at the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications. Seven other companies will participate in the exhibition with their own financial resources - Datex, Daisy Technology, Eltrade, Fadata, Finess Mobile, Musala Soft, and Trans Logistics Systems.Official guests to the Bulgarian IT Day on March 20 were the Minister of Transport Nikolay Vassilev, the Minister of State Administration Dimitar Kalchev, and the Chairman of the Foreign Investment Agency Pavel Ezekiev. In front of representatives of the German Government, international companies and non-government organisations, they will explain the investment opportunities in Bulgaria and the perspectives for development of the high-tech market in the country.Some 6,000 exhibitors applied for participation in CeBIT-2004, while the total exhibition ground is 300,000 square metres.According to EITO, the independent institute for market research in the field of information and communication technologies, in 2003 the high-tech sector market has registered a 4.5% growth compared to a year earlier, reaching EUR2,250BN. Experts forecast that the upward trend will continue in 2004. The growth will be 5.7%, they expect.
