BULGARIA EXPECTS EU FUNDING FOR CULTURE TOURISM
A confirmation for the implementation of a project for the development of culture tourism in Bulgaria is expected to be received this month, Mariana Assenova, Deputy Minister of Economy announced.
The project will be funded under the EU PHARE program with EUR7MLN. It is aimed at developing culture tourism in Bulgaria through investments in culture historical sites, marketing and personnel training. If it is approved, the project will be implemented between January 2002 and December 2004. Municipalities and non-profit organizations will be allowed to apply for funding under the project, the Ministry of Economy said.
A PHARE project for improvement of the access to tourist sites is to be approved this month as well, Deputy Minister Assenova added. The project is worth EUR15MN. Of this money EUR10MN is expected to be provided by the EU. The project will be executed in South and Northeastern Bulgaria.
