BULGARIA AND GREECE TO SPEED UP CONSTRUCTION OF THREE BORDER CHECK-POINTS
A joint Bulgarian-Greek commission will be monitoring the construction of three border check-points: Ilinden-Exohi, Roudozem-Xanti, and Makaza-Komotini. This was agreed at a meeting between the Deputy Premier and Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Kostadin Paskalev and the Greek Minister of Macedonia-Thrace Georgios Paschalidis, who said that his country was interested in the quick implementation of joint infrastructural projects in the region. Mr. Paschalidis pointed out that Greece supports the construction of trans-European corridors Nos III, IV, and X. During his meeting with PM Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, the guest assured the Premier that Bulgaria could rely on Athens' support for the country's accession to NATO and the European Union. Minister Paschalidis also delivered to the Bulgarian Premier an invitation to take part in a meeting on Europe's future, to be held in Thessaloniki in the autumn of 2002.
