WB's regular mission in Bulgaria for supervision and assessment of the target use of healthcare reform credits will continue from July 17 till July 27. The mission is leaded by Domenique Haasen, healthcare matters advisor of the Country Director for Bulgaria, Romania, and Croatia at the WB Andrew Vorkink.

Nikolay Ivanov - Head of the Financial Investigation Bureau, announced that over 30 deals for USD2.2MN had been halted and brought to the Prosecutors' Office. They are supposedly connected with money-laundering and concern mainly deals on funds transfered abroad. Since the beginning of 2001 the Bureau has sent to the Prosecutors' Office signals for money-laundering amounting to USD90MN. About 3% of them have been connected with crossborder transfers.

According to the amendments of BNB Regulation 9, insurance policies, issued by the Bulgarian Export Insurance Agency (BEIA) can be accepted as first-rate guarantee by the banks. This will enable larger credits to be launched to Bulgarian exporters who offer such policies as guarantees. BEIA has already signed mutual co-operation agreements with BIOCHIM, BNP-Paribas (Bulgaria), ING Bank - Sofia, ROSSEXIMBANK, Incentive Bank, Municipal Bank, Demirbank (Bulgaria), UBB, FIB, Commercial Bank of Greece (Bulgaria) and Raiffeisenbank (Bulgaria).
