VIAGGIO AIR WILL FLY TO ATHENS AND KIEV
The Government has chosen the air company Viaggio Air to be the national carrier on Bulgaria's part for Sofia-Kiev-Sofia flights. Until now it was serviced only by Ukraine's Aeroswift. Viaggio Air also got a permission to fly to Athens. Flights from Sofia to the Greek capital were so far carried out by Hemus Air and Olympic Airways. Planes of the Bulgarian airline will be flying to the two destinations three times a week. The expected increase of passengers connected with the Olympic Games in Greece in August necessitated to choose a national air carrier to Athens. Almost 50,000 tourists are expected to pass through Bulgaria then, the Government's press service announced. Viaggio Air OOD was registered on September 11, 2002. The Cypriot company Ronter Trading Co. Ltd. holds a 50% stake in the company, 20% is in the hands of the Chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Association Bozhidar Danev, and the remaining shares are distributed between one of the compаny's executive directors - Vulko Mihailov (20%), Roumyana Vassileva (5%), and Roumyana Balabanova (5%). Viaggio Air has two 48-seat ATR-42s, produced by the plants of Airbus in France.
